Success comes through the process (audio inc)

Note: This became an accidental long VM / podcast so tune in if you want extras xx

I’m at the pitter-patter stage of new business - things are flowing if not more quietly and gently than I am used to and while this is what I need, the old part of me stuck in the strategy and ‘make sense’ zone is being dragged along before she’s quite ready.

She’d rather sit here procrastinating over silly things, knowing full well none of that ever helped much anyway. I am creating in a completely different way, using social media less and asking myself deeper questions before I create content.

I no longer want to post as part of a planning schedule (never did much anyway, but I am giving up on yet another round of ever trying to again) and just going with the flow.

I’ve become tired of working with energy that asks everything to be reduced for ‘shorter attention spans’ or to please an algorithm. It’s taken what used to be a joyful aspect of work for me (marketing in a super fun organic way!) and turned into into some kind of circus performance - did we get the video right? The caption right? Are we measuring success on how well it pleased the algorithmic god for the day?

The truth is, I think we can have fun sharing our work and you can have some strategy to it - but the way that this has become so intense is just missing the mark.

To me, having some strategy is being clear on what you love and then making it easy for people to find / understand that.

Turning yourself into a performer that is completely aside from the very thing you offer…it’s overwhelming. And your core (true) audience doesn’t really want that from you anyway.

It’s more about sharing, showing up and flowing more gently. I crave this from the people I connect with online - I’d rather hear from you when you want to show up and share, soulfully and beautifully than a forced version of you - the one that you yourself aren’t even feeling into.

In my own offerings, I am taking off all the layers that are extra - the parts that would be fluff if I followed what was trendy.

I have truly attracted clients just by being me, in a way that works for me.

My logical ‘trained to the world’ brain struggles with this at times, but when I am with someone, working on their business and they are lit up by their ideas and vision - AND THEY’RE JUST GOING FOR IT - it reminds me how it feels to be on the receiving end of someone who not only knows what she wants, but is confident enough to dive in without questioning her capability.

What I offer is currently evolving - I have just created a new home for a deeper version of sharing my artwork. I have had poetry in the drawer and a need to explore the soulful elements of whimsy for awhile - I’ve slid off a brand and stepped into the visibility of my own name. That in itself for me, is huge.

And in my other work through Hera Lane, I work with other creative business owners to take a few things off their plate and make progress on their goals. I offer 1:1 clarity sessions because the importance of being able to talk out your business dreams is HUGE - and I have an eye for simplifying and breaking things down to begin moving towards the goal.

What I offer isn’t rooted in the promise of a 7-figure return or forcing a fixed way of doing business - it’s created from a desire to see other creative women expand, bring their dreams to life and make that easy in a practical way. I am a wing woman x PA in your pocket, and because I have an artist’s heart - making it as vibrant and aligned to you, in a way that works for you is what matters to me.

What you have to bring to the table is worth sharing, someone out there will feel seen when you show up fully as yourself. But you have to take off all the ‘should be’ layers first. You don’t have to have it all figured out - you just need to start doing something.

Start where you feel excited or invited, and trust it will build some momentum.

But give yourself time. So many people I know, and I am guilty of this myself, have become so focused on ‘instant results’ that they don’t even give the first bud a chance to bloom into a flower.

Let it happen, let it grow -

Be messy and complicated and afraid and show up anyway - Glennon Doyle
